Engaged Couples Retreat
2009: The 2009 schedule for the Engaged Couples Retreats has been set by the Diocese. There is one scheduled every month with the exception of May and December. Registration forms are available on the shelf in the gathering area. There is a $150 registration fee per couple, and registration can be completed on-line. This does not replace the couples meeting with their parish priest. Please visit www.scarrittbennett.org to take a virtual tour. Registration is available at www.dioceseofnashville.com/encoupretreat. College Scholarship
A scholarship for school year 2010-2011 has been established by the Daughters of Isabella Lady of Grace Circle at St. Thomas in Cookeville. The purpose of this scholarship is to supplement the costs involved for the further education of a selected female high school graduate or GED recipient working toward their first degree. Applications will be accepted from October 1st thru March 31, 2010. See Barbara Marsden for an application.

November 29th: The Knights of Columbus Big Pancake Breakfast at St. Thomas Aquinas Church will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on the last Sunday of each month. Come out and enjoy bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, coffee, tea, milk and orange juice, as well as the friendly atmosphere of the after Mass crowd. Come and join us!
Knights of Columbus Meeting
December 13th: The Knights of Columbus meeting for the William P. Morris Council 6645 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church will be the second Sunday of each month at 9:15 AM in the church basement Adult Meeting Room. Be there to support your council and its ongoing charitable activities.
Latin Mass
A new Latin mass will be held at St. Mary's Church at 330 5th Ave. North in Nashville. It will be held on the first and third Sunday of each month at 9:00 am. St. Mary's phone number is (615) 256-1704. If you are interested in the Tridentine Latin mass, contact Martha Sloan at (615) 330-1771. The Tridentine mass will be offered if there is enough interest.
World Day of Prayer for Vocations
Each year, the Vocation Office of the diocese of Nashville conducts a campaign for vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. It asks the people in the pews to surface names of young men and young women whom they consider to be possible candidates for a life of dedicated service in the priesthood or the religious life. Cards are available for the recommendation of possible candidates.
Living and Loving Keepsake
Anyone observing a wedding anniversary of 25, 35, 50, or 60 years in this calendar year will receive a lovely keepsake edition of Living and Loving just for the asking. This program is made possible by local business and professional leaders who are interested in making a difference in the life of the community. The volume has space to record important dates and occasions. The best part is the books are free. If you are celebrating one of the above anniversaries this year, please contact the office and we will send in your request.
Cover Tennessee Rx
Governor Bredesen has requested that we send out information on a health insurance program that may have application to some of our parishioners. Cover TN is a program for uninsured or uninsurable adults. Members may choose coverage to fit their needs. It is a program especially aimed for the self-employed, the working uninsured, and those between jobs without insurance coverage. There are programs for children under 18, for those who have chronic illnesses and have been turned down for ordinary health insurance; and also a program of pharmacy benefits for low-income people. Detailed information is available by calling (866) COVERTN or go to www.CoverTN.gov .
National Rosary Crusade
The United States is at a most critical time in its history. The might of its military is being challenged as it was in the Middle Ages. The only weapon that saved Europe from Muslim domination was prayer, in particular the prayer of the Rosary. A national crusade has been launched, asking people to pledge a daily rosary to save America from the terrorists who want to destroy Christianity. If you can't say a daily rosary, you are invited to participate in the Sunday morning Rosary before Mass.
Aluminum Can Tops
We are already re-cycling aluminum cans for profit, and we are grateful to everyone involved in the program. Now we would like to ask you to remove the tabs from the cans and save them separately. We have been asked by the American Cancer Society to save the tabs for them. Simply tape a little baggie near the kitchen counter and when filled, turn it in to the parish.
Print Cartridge Recycling
The receptacle that has been set up in the Fellowship Hall for recycled print cartridges has found few drop-ins. We would like to remind everyone who uses an ink-jet printer to save the used cartridges for recycling. Just as we collect empty aluminum cans when we drink for the church, we can also save empty printer cartridges that will produce income. Collect them at home and where you work.
Monthly Calendar
If you wish to have your wedding anniversary acknowledged in the St. Andrew monthly calendar, please list your date on the calendar located on the bulletin board in the parish hall.
